A year-long campaign · 2026–2027
Reading well is how a person keeps learning for life.
#LiftingLiteracy brings organizations together to strengthen reading comprehension for children, teens and adults.
Comprehension is the second reading
When Mae opened the letter, she read it twice. The first time she read the words. The second time she read what they meant.
Why literacy
Sounding out the words is the start. Understanding them is the skill.
Reading comprehension carries into every class, every job application, every lease, every ballot and every prescription label. It is the basis for lifelong learning and for everyday life skills. This campaign is for readers of every age.
Children
The joy of reading comes first: stories that make children want to turn one page, then another.
Teens
Learning to read and comprehend is critical now, because from here on teens read to learn in every subject.
Adults
Reading with confidence at work, at home and in the community. It is never too late.
How the campaign works
Many organizations, one shared year of reading.
Literacy organizations join as partners. Schools, libraries, after-school programs, tutoring programs, home schools, families, nonprofits and community groups that help people read.
Each partner runs its own fundraiser and adds a #LiftingLiteracy page to its own website.
This site connects them. One place to find every partner, give to the one you choose, and join as a member.
Where your gift goes
Every gift goes straight to the partner you choose. #LiftingLiteracy does not collect or hold donations.
